Joseph LeClaire

As the President of Wildermuth Environmental, Inc. (WEI), Joe LeClaire is responsible for executing the firm’s vision in conjunction with the Board of Directors. Dr. LeClaire plans and directs all aspects of WEI's operational policies, objectives, and initiatives, and he is responsible for the attainment of short- and long-term financial and operational goals. In addition, Dr. LeClaire serves as WEI’s senior project manager, providing technical expertise and oversight on several projects.

Dr. LeClaire has over 26 years of professional experience in water resources and hazardous waste engineering, including project management and administration, office management, and business development. Dr. LeClaire’s substantial experience spans numerous water resources studies and projects. His technical expertise is in the area of equilibrium chemistry and mobility of trace metals and organics in the unsaturated zone and in groundwater. His managerial experience encompasses several projects wherein relational database management systems (RDBMS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) were utilized as effective management and analytical tools in support of scientific, engineering, and management decisions.

Prior to joining WEI, Dr. LeClaire held responsible positions at several major environmental consulting firms, including Montgomery Watson, where he rose to supervising scientist from 1987 to 1996; and Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc., where he was a project scientist from 1985 to 1987. From 1996 to 1998, Dr. LeClaire served as the director of business development at a software development firm that specializes in water resources applications.

Dr. LeClaire received a B.A. in Chemistry with a Specialization in Earth Sciences from the University of California at San Diego in 1980 and a Ph.D. in Soil Science from the University of California at Riverside in 1985. He is a member of the National Ground Water Association, the American Water Resources Association, the Groundwater Resources Association of California, the Soil Science Society of America, and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.
